Course summary:

This course provides knowledge on the recognition and management of anaphylaxis. The Immediate Care Training course is suitable for any healthcare professional that has a “Duty of Care” for a person at risk of anaphylaxis. The course is based on national and international guidelines and up to date evidence that ensures best practice

This course will:

Provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to deal with life-threatening anaphylaxis and deliver the emergency procedures required.

The Training will include the knowledge and skills to:

 

Competency:

Formative assessment using feedback and mentors during the practical teaching phases throughout the course will be used. This will allow the instructors to modify approaches and employ corrective actions to improve candidate’s attainment in the topics covered.

Session 1

Lecture: Anaphylaxis in context


Objectives - To discuss the following areas:

 

Session 2- skills station: Drugs & Delivery

 

Session 3- Skills station: The ABCDE approach to Mild, Moderate & Severe Anaphylaxis

Objectives:

 

Session 4 - Management of Anaphylaxis demo Demonstration 


 

Session 5: 4 x 15 minute Group Learning scenarios

Objectives:

 

Session 6: Questions, Key Learning points, close, issue of certificates

The format of the Immediate Care Training course is very much Learner centered, non-threatening approach. All candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their own experiences of Anaphylaxis. Assessment will be Formative using qualitative feedback rather than scores throughout the course. This will allow the instructors to modify approaches and employ corrective actions during the practical teaching phases to improve student attainment.

Approved programme, assigned An Bord Altranais Continuing Education Units (Board CEU: 4)
 

This course is now offered as either a stand alone course for €85 or you can avail of our BLS/anaphylaxis full day course at a cost of €150.
