IHF BLS for Healthcare providers course

BLS for Healthcare providers. The BLS for healthcare provider course is designed for healthcare professionals to learn the latest techniques in resuscitation.  This part of the course is aimed at ensuring candidates promptly recognise cardiac arrest, give high quality chest compressions and deliver appropriate ventilations as well as providing early and safe defibrillation through the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within both a team setting and on an individual basis. The course also teaches how to recognise and manage a choking victim. The above areas are taught in the context of adult, child and infant rescue techniques.
The BLS for healthcare providers on line course is broken into 3 parts. Candidate’s complete part 1 online as a self directed e-Learning format, which will take approx. 1.5 hours to complete overall. Following this part of the course a multiple choice questionnaire (MCQ) is taken and on successful completion a printed copy of a certificate confirming this is available to download. The candidate is then eligible to complete part 2 of the course. This component involves a hands-on skills practice session to allow the candidate to reinforce and practice the skills associated with the e-learning component (Part 1). This is then followed by an MCQ assessment to ensure that each candidate has achieved the required standard set down by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF), which is accredited for a period of two years.
Candidates can choose to attend one or both components of the courses
